Shaker Trestle Table T197

This custom Shaker trestle table is shown in walnut at 48" wide by 97" long. Each trestle base is built using deep mortise-and-tenon joinery, with arched base supports shaped and carved by hand. The base is unified by a heavy stretcher secured with a massive wedged through tenon. The top is made from a pair of bookmatched walnut boards featuring exceptional grain and crotch figure. Breadboard ends are attached using draw-pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, and this example includes optional through tenoned breadboard ends. The table is finished with several coats of hand-rubbed shellac and lacquer. Tables can be custom built to your specifications in a variety of sizes and wood species, including tiger maple, flame birch, and cherry.
