Flat File ch101

Handcrafted in highly figured mahogany, this custom made flat file chest features a specialized multi drawer configuration designed for organizing and preserving a private collection of sheet music. At the case, the measurements are 41.5 inches wide by 20 inches deep and 48 inches tall. Single wide board mahogany boards are used for the case sides and top rather than several boards glued together. Built with traditional joinery, the case features hand cut dovetail construction. All of the wide, low profile drawers are hand constructed using sliding dovetails to maintain structural integrity under the weight of extensive paper archives. Commissioned to meet the precise storage requirements of the client, the completed chest is fitted with solid brass nickel plated hardware and finished with several coats of hand rubbed shellac to highlight the natural chatoyance of the mahogany grain.

Chests can be built to client specifications in a range of sizes, styles and wood species, including walnut, tiger maple, flame birch, cherry, and mahogany.
