About Eric
As I enter my 31st year as a professional furniture maker, it still amazes me how much I love this work. Every morning I head into the shop with excitement—never dread, never boredom. That passion has stayed with me from the beginning.
My path started with an associate’s degree in fine woodworking; during which I also met my wife of 30 years. After graduating, we moved to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where I joined Irion Company Furniture Makers, an extraordinary shop specializing in authentic American reproduction furniture.
The team at Irion was incredibly generous with their knowledge. I was a young craftsman eager to learn, and they never held back. They even allowed me to use the shop after hours, where I built several challenging personal pieces and sharpened my skills every step of the way. Within two years, I was entrusted with some of Irion’s most complex commissions. Over my seven and a half years at Irion, I built hundreds of pieces alongside some of the best furniture makers in the country.
In 2003, I opened my own shop: E. Jacobsen Furniture Maker. My first independent commission was a large suite of Caribbean-style reproductions. This was a style I hadn’t built before, but thoroughly enjoyed. Since then, I’ve continued to build American reproductions while also designing pieces styled in Mid-Century Modern, as well as other traditional and contemporary styles.
No matter the design, every piece is made by myself, start to finish. This includes all turning, carving, joinery, and finishing. I use only the finest materials and take pride in delivering heirloom-quality work that blends beauty, integrity, and purpose. I especially enjoy collaborating with clients to develop meaningful pieces that reflect their vision and values; furniture that becomes part of their story and is worthy of being passed down for generations.
Thank you for visiting my site. I look forward to the opportunity to build something truly special with you.
About This Website
The furniture shown throughout the galleries represents work I’ve completed in the past. On each gallery page, you can click on individual pieces to open the individual page. Here you will find additional photos, dimensions, and descriptions. From there, you can start a slideshow and zoom in to explore the details up close. Some pieces are shown in multiple versions; built in different woods or with subtle changes like alternate moldings or foot styles. Because all of my work is made to order, consider this site a collection of ideas and possibilities.
You’re welcome to request a piece exactly as shown, or we can customize details, blend elements from different pieces, or modify dimensions to suit your space and preferences.
Clients are not limited by what’s displayed here, your ideas and inspiration are always welcome. For more on how I work and how to get started, please visit the The Process page.
