Philadelphia Garvan Pier Table T155A

This custom Philadelphia pier table is built in walnut and crotch walnut using deep mortise and tenon joinery. The legs are shaped and carved by hand from matching three inch thick stock. Their carving is based on an original slab table at Winterthur attributed to an unidentified Philadelphia carver known to scholars as the Garvan Carver. Hand carved gadrooning is applied along the lower edges of the aprons. The top is a single wide board with crotch figure running its full length. Dimensions are 18" deep, 48" wide, and 29.5" high. The table is finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed shellac.

Tables can be built to client specifications in a range of sizes and wood species, including walnut, tiger maple, flame birch, cherry, and mahogany. Additional table designs may be viewed here.
