Benchmade in figured mahogany, this English style bow front chest of drawers features a functional pull out writing slide, or as known in England, a brushing slide. Single wide board figured mahogany sides and top are used for the case construction rather than several boards glued together. At the case, measurements are 32 inches wide by 18 inches deep at the case side, while the full case depth to the center of the bow front is 20.25 inches. Overall height is 35 inches, and the top measures 33.5 inches wide by 20.75 inches deep. Built with traditional joinery, the case features hand cut dovetails as do the drawers. Sliding dovetails are used for the case bottom and drawer blades. The curved drawer fronts are cut from solid 2.5 inch thick poplar and veneered with figured mahogany shop made veneers. The drawer fronts are accented with cock beading. All three drawers have functioning drawer locks with thread escutcheons. This piece is finished with several coats of hand rubbed shellac and authentic solid brass hardware made using the lost wax casting method.
